Greetings, gentles of all sorts! In the SCA, I’m Julian Weissräben, retired Landsknecht captain living with my family (and off my warfare spoils) in 1530s Nürnberg. In our local Revolutionary War reenactment group – the Hubbardston Militia – I’m Dr. Reuben Walker, company surgeon. I began this blog as a way to document and talk about the historical costumes I make for myself and my family.

I used to be a professional costumer, but I burned out on that – too many people being unwilling to pay for the actual time it takes to craft these pieces, and wanting the world for forty bucks. It was taking the joy out of the work, so now I only do it for family and friends, and for money or barter with the occasional client whom I like as a person.
